Learning materials is one of the very crucial elements that have to exist to conduct teaching/learning activities. Whatever materials used by teachers, generally serve as the basis for much language input that the learners receive and the language practice that occur in the classroom. English students as the next teachers are materials developers, in that they involved every day in matching materials to the needs of their learners.
This book provides readers some ideas of theoretical foundations and practical aspects in designing materials for English Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. To encourage students in improving their critical thinking and creativity, the approach of this book is using project-based blended learning. It start with challenging questions through synchronous and asynchronous activities. The main materials in this book are discussing some basic and preliminary principles of materials design. This ranges from considering learners’ needs, adopting, adapting, selection, and gradation of materials to the specific focus of the book on developing various types of materials for the four language skills, and also computer assisted language learning materials.
