Deskripsi
The halal industry has grown rapidly globally, driven by the increasing demand for high-quality, hygienic, and ethical products and services from both Muslim and non-Muslim communities. The Philippines, particularly the Davao region of Mindanao, has a strategic market position in Southeast Asia and is supported by a significant Muslim population, offering great opportunities for the development of a cross-sectoral halal industry ecosystem (food, pharmaceutical, tourism, fashion, and finance).
However, development in Davao still faces challenges such as low levels of understanding of halal standards, limited market access, and insufficient certification support, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Therefore, this study urges to map ecosystem components, test readiness, and analyze the long-term sustainability of halal industry development in the region.
